The Weekend Warrior Food Program
The Weekend Warrior Meal Program is designed to help families needing meal support for their children over the weekend. The meal package includes items for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The package also includes snacks such as fresh fruit, granola, and snack crackers for in-between mealtimes.
The program started in 2019, just prior to the COVID-19 pandemic when it was brought to our foundation’s attention that several families are struggling to provide healthy meals for their families due to financial challenges. So far, we have provided over 10,000+ meals for children to decrease their chances of going hungry. In Jefferson County alone, studies show that there is over 77,000+ people dealing with food insecurity.
In 2024 we have partnered with Dare to Care in efforts to increase the number of families that we are able to support. Our program hopes to decrease the chances of children and their families going hungry and increase the accessibility to nutritious meals and snacks.
